Whether you bail out of jail with or without a bail bond, the most important rule you need to oblige by is your word to return to court when the judge requests you to. If you fail to do this, there are a number of consequences:
1. You will immediately be rearrested.
2. You will no longer be allowed bail.
3. If you paid bail to court directly, you will no longer be eligible to have that money refunded.
4. If you paid for a bail bond, you and/ or the cosigner will have to pay the remainder of the full bail amount and relinquish any collateral that was offered.
Skipping court is all around a bad look. If you foresee a conflict, it’s best to address this with the court as soon as possible. Court may not change the court date, so you need to get out of your other obligation.
